3.       PROFILE:  The patron Saint of the Community is St. Jude, known as Thaddaeus, was a brother of St. James the Less, and a relative of Our Saviour. St Jude was one of the 12 Apostles of Jesus. Jude is invoked in desperate situations because his New Testament letter stresses that the faithful should persevere in the environment of harsh, difficult circumstances, just as their forefathers had done before them. Therefore, he is the patron saint of desperate cases and his feast day is October 28. Saint Jude is not the same person as Judas Iscariot who betrayed Our Lord and despaired because of his great sin and lack of trust in God's mercy.

4.       WORK DONE BY THE COMMUNITY:  The Community during the year organises various activities for its members ranging from Prayer Services, Rosaries at the Crosses in the community, Community Mass, and programs for children. The youth of the community are very talented and have won the First Prize for Christmas Crib competition for the last three years in a row. The animators visit the bereaved families following the death of any member and offer their prayers and support in their hour of grief. There are regular visits to the sick and housebound.

Many members of the Community are actively involved in the various Association and Cells of the Parish as Catechists, Lectors, Song Leaders, Musicians, Altar Servers, preparation of the Liturgy for the parish, Family Cell, Youth Movement, SVP, Legion of Mary, Ladies Sodality, Hope and Life for widows, Ushers and Civic and Political Cell. All in all the members of Matharwar and Pali-Piquene not just contribute to the community itself but to the parish as a whole so as to make it a vibrant parish for the greater glory of God.

REACH OF THE COMMUNITY: The Community of Matharwar and Pali-Piquene is one of the oldest communities of the Parish and consists of around 119 families. There are about 16 animators who are actively involved in reaching out to the various needs of the families under their care.
